Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate whether there is a relationship between the feelings of the hospital staff at work and some demographic features and organizational citizenship behaviour.2000 nurses who work for a private health group in Istanbul constitute the universe of this research.By way of simple random exemplification 350 people have been selected and a specifically designed survey has been administered. The Organizational Citizenship Behaviour Scale, defined by Organ(1988) and improved by Podsakoff,et.al(1990) and the Work Place Jealousy Scale of Vecchio(1995) and Payne(2001) are the scales that are used in our study(Kim,2006).The survey has been administered to 350 nurses. While the findings were evaluated, NCSS Program(Number Cruncher Statistical System) 2007&Pass 2008 Statistical Software (Utah, USA) was used for statistical analysis. For the assessment of the data, apart from descriptive statistical methods (Average,Standard deviation) when we compared the parameters deviating from a normal distribution among groups during quantitative data comparison, Kruskal Wallis Test was chosen and to determine the group which created diversity Mann Whitney U Test was selected and also used in comparisons between the groups.Meaningfulness was scored at the level of p<0.05.The results of our study show a significant relationship between the dimensions of OCB; conscientiousness, civic virtue, willingness and sportsmanship and Payne?s Jealousy Scale and the employee who experiences jealousy tends not to show OCB feelings at the work place.Key Words: Organizational Citizenship Behaviour, Feelings at the work place
