Abstract (EN)

It is seen that there is a kind of symbiotic relationship between numbers and the non-linguistic features of religions and cultures, in which they mutually influence each other over generations. This relationship has found a response in mythological narratives, places of worship, religious rituals, theological and scientific studies. The numbers used in every period and through which clearer messages are given to people, The Prophet mohamed also used Islam for various purposes in his preaching. However, there has been controversy in the comprehension studies on the interpretation of these numerical expressions. From this point of view, our research aimed to understand and interpret numbers in different religions and cultures in general, and the numbers in Prophetic declaration in a healthy way within the integrity of "religion", "revelation", "Qur'an", "prophecy" and "sunnah". This study in your hand, through various examples, the number of It is about how it gained meaning in the language of the Prophet mohamed and how it can be interpreted today. Among the numerical expressions in the hadith narrations, there are some that indicate a definite number according to the subject it is related to. The numbers in the hadiths related to obligatory acts such as the number of rak'ahs in prayer, zakat amounts, fasting days, and legal matters such as witnessing, inheritance division and hadd punishments have a definite numerical value. On the other hand, It is understood that exaggerated and abstract numbers expressing multiplicity in the language of the Prophet generally express tergib and terhib, and are also used to explain understand the unseen subjects such as heaven and hell. For this reason, the issue of which of the numbers and quantities in the hadiths expresses certainty and which is not limiting emerges as a principle that should not be ignored in the correct understanding of the hadiths. Considering these numerical expressions in the narrations in the light of cultural and religious data and considering them holistically with the Qur'an will make it easier to understand the message that the hadith wants to convey.
