Abstract (EN)

Açıkkol S. Investigation of AOPP levels, some biochemical and hematological parameters in second and third degree thermal burn. The University of Van Yüzüncü Yıl, Health Sciences Institute, Department of Biochemistry, MSci. Thesis, Van, 2018. Burn is a systemic injury affecting the entire organism according to its etiology and severity and is one of the most common traumas. The aim of this study was to investigate plasma AOPP levels and some biochemical and hematological parameters before and after treatment second and third degree thermal burn patients and determine the changes in these parameters. The study material consisted of pediatric patients who were admitted to the burn unit of SBU Van Training and Research Hospital with the complaint of second and third degree thermal burns aged between 1 and 18 years, with a burn area exceeding 10 %. Blood samples were taken twice before and after treatment. AOPP level in blood plasma was measured in ELISA. Biochemical (serum creatinine, urea, glucose, albumin, Na, K, CRP, AST, CK) and hematological parameters (WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, PLT) were analyzed by the autoanalyser. Prior to treatment, levels of AOPP, urea, glucose, K, CK, WBC, RBC, HCB, HCT in patients with second degree thermal burn; and AOPP, glucose, K, CRP, CK and PLT levels in patients with third degree thermal burns significantly changed after treatment (p<0.05). Between the two groups, although creatinine, glucose, albumin, K and PLT were statistically significant (p<0.05) before treatment, significant differences were also observed in Na, HCT and PLT after treatment (p<0.05). This study is a preliminary study due to the fact that the AOPP level has been studied for the first time in burn cases. In both groups, the level of AOPP increased due to oxidative stress and inflammation before treatment. As a result, biochemical and hematological parameters are important for the prognosis of biochemical and hematological parameters. Key words: Second degree burn, third degree burn, AOPP, biochemical parameters, hematological parameters
