Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the financial literacy levels of primary school mathematics teachers and to determine whether these levels vary according to demographic variables (age, gender and income status). The universe of the study consists of 300 mathematics teachers working in Isparta province. The research data were collected by reaching a sample of 175 people that is large enough to represent the research universe. The study addresses financial literacy; income management, savings, debt management and investment information. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool and the obtained data were subjected to descriptive statistical methods. Since the data provided the normal distribution assumption, parametric analyses were used. Independent sample t-test was used in the comparison of paired groups and ANOVA analysis was used in the comparison of multiple groups. According to the research findings, the vast majority of primary school mathematics teachers have a medium level of financial literacy and none of the participants fell into the area defined as low financial literacy. The current study draws attention to the need to develop programs to increase teachers' financial awareness and strengthen financial education policies. According to the findings of the study, the financial literacy levels of the participants do not show any significant difference according to variables such as gender, age and income status. By analyzing the current literature on financial literacy, financial education and their economic consequences, it emphasizes the need for a more comprehensive financial literacy approach that goes beyond individual-level interventions and addresses the structural and institutional factors that shape financial decision-making. The findings of this study have important implications for policy makers, educators and financial institutions as they emphasize the need for a more holistic and inclusive financial literacy approach that actively engages individuals and communities in shaping the financial landscape.
