The relationship between the teacher?s classroom management abilities and the teacher?s coping behaviours of the teachers working in primary schools(A sample of provience of İstanbul-Kartal district)

The purpose of this research, to examine the relationship between the teacher?s classroom management abilities and the teacher?s coping behaviors, to this end, this research has revealed the relationship between the classroom management abilities and coping behaviors of the teachers working in primary schools.This research covers on the Istanbul Provincial of the Kartal district 12 primary schools and was carried on 128 class teachers and 101 branch teachers total 229 teachers who have worked the National Education Directorate in Academic year 2008-2009.In this study, classroom management skill (Denizel Güven ve Cevher, 2005) was used to measure the Classroom Management Skills Scale, COPE (Coping Attitude Assessment Scale) (Ağargün and friends, 2005) was used to evaluate the teachers coping behaviors and developed a questionnaire by researcher were used to collect data about independent variables of research.Obtained of data was analyzed by SPSS 15.0 program and was interpreted in this research. Frequency and percentage distributions were used in the analysis of findings. The One-Way ANOVA, t test, Kruskal-Wallis H test were applied to determine difference between groups, Mann Whitney-U test and Scheffe test were applied to determine the differences between groups and the Pearson Multiplication Moments Correlation Analysis was applied to determining the relationship between groups.The findings of the survey was evaluated by the results of the Pearson analysis between total scores of classroom management skills scale and sub-dimensions of coping attitude rating scale; There were found positive significant direction relationship between classroom management skills scale scores and sub-dimensions of coping attitude rating scale such as positive re-interpretation and development, use of beneficial social support, active coping, to think like a joke, suppression of other occupational, to make plan. On the other hand, according to relationship between classroom management skills scale total scores and sub-dimensions of coping attitude assessment scale, when the classroom management skills scale total scores increased, coping attitude assessment scale will significantly was increased.Finally, these results show us that there is a relationship between teachers? classroom management skills and teachers? coping attitudes.Key Words : Class, classroom management, teacher, coping.
