The relation between level of emotional intelligence of teachers in elemantary schools and their talents of dealing with stress

The aim of this research is to show the level of emotional intelligence of teachers working in Anatolian part of Istanbul and accordingly the relation between this level and their talent of dealing with stress.In order to carry out this aim, answers of the following questions are sought for:Is there a relation between the level of emotional intelligence of teachers and their demographic features? (sex, age, marital status, being a parent, the university graduated, total service period, subject)Is there a relation between optimism as one of the factors of emotional intelligence of teachers and subscales of talents of dealing with stress? (active planning, seeking for external assistance, tend towards religion, flight abstraction, flight isolation, acceptance cognitive reconstruction )Is there a relation between utilization of emotions as one of the factors of emotional intelligence of teachers and subscales of talents of dealing with stress? (active planning, seeking for external assistance, tend towards religion, flight abstraction, flight isolation, acceptance cognitive reconstruction)Is there a relation between expression of emotions as one of the factors of emotional intelligence of teachers and subscales of talents of dealing with stress? (active planning, seeking for external assistance, tend towards religion, flight abstraction, flight isolation, acceptance cognitive reconstruction)A valid and reliable emotional intelligence scale which is applied for determining level of teachers? emotional intelligence and scales of dealing with stress which is intendedfor understanding level of their talents of dealing with stress are used as a means of gathering data in this research.The statistics program SPSS 11.0 is used for data analysis.Findings about the aims at the end of this research can be summarized as follows:In statistical analysis about differentiations among levels of emotional intelligence levels according to demographic features of elementary school teachers, differentiation at the level of p<.01 meaningfulness is found in subscale of utilization from emotions according to sex variable.
