The effect of applications enhanced with fairy and drama on increasing academic success of primary school 4th grade students

Changes in human life necessitate some innovations in the field of education as well as in all areas of life. There are many studies on the use of fairy tales or drama in teaching. However, there is no study investigating the effect of using both together on academic achievement in primary school students. This study aims to examine the effect of applications enriched with fairy tales and drama in increasing the academic achievement of 4th grade primary school students.The study was carried out with two groups at the same level of readiness in the 4th grade of a public school in Gaziantep and an experimental design was used in the research. The two groups with equivalent knowledge determined by the pre-test were determined as the experimental and control groups. While the lesson plan enriched with fairy tales and drama was applied to the experimental group, the control group was taught with traditional teaching methods and techniques. After the lectures, a post-test was applied to the groups and the results were analyzed and reported in the SPSS program. As a result, it was determined that the success of the lesson was significantly higher in the experimental group in which the lesson was enriched with fairy tale and drama activities compared to the group in which the lesson was taught with traditional methods.
