Abstract (EN)

Molecules containing –C=N- group called Schiff bases and secondary amines that can be obtained from them are in the class of important molecules in the field of organic chemistry due to their effective biological and chemical properties. Schiff bases are also used as intermediates in the synthesis of many important molecules such as active pharmaceutical ingredients, pesticides and some natural products. Because the existing –C=N- group can be easily applied to reactions such as reduction, addition, cyclization and can be converted to the desired functional group. In addition to being used as an intermediate, there are many studies in the literature showing that they also have anti-bacterial, anti-tümör, anti-oxidant, anti-HIV and anti-viral properties. Within the scope of the thesis, many Schiff bases with an indane skeleton, which are not in the literature, and related secondary amines over these Schiff bases were synthesized and their structures were elucidated. In addition, the antioxidant activities of all synthesized molecules were investigated. The fact that substituted molecules with the same skeletal structure were synthesized allowed to provide very detailed information in terms of examining the structure/activity relationship. From this point of view, this thesis study was a study in which Schiff bases and related secondary amine molecules were synthesized, the antioxidant activities of all synthesized molecules were examined and the structure/activity relationship was discussed extensively.
