Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between the use of Instagram story effects, acceptance of aesthetic surgery and self-esteem. In today's technology, especially in Instagram beauty effects have been used frequently by women. These effects make the face perfect by performing aesthetic procedures and make-up on the face. This perfection is in a dimension that even plastic surgeons cannot offer to patients. Therefore, considering the prevalence of the use of effects, it has been predicted that this may disrupt women's perception of beauty, lower their self-esteem and direct them to aesthetic surgery. Within this framework, Instagram Story Effects Usage Scale (ISEUS) was developed and its relationship with accepting plastic surgery and self-esteem was examined. The study consists of the data of 506 Instagram story effects users, who were reached by sharing the questionnaire prepared through Google Forms online in 2022 on various social media platforms (Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook) and e-mail groups. The data collection tools of the study are Sociodemographic Information Form, Instagram Story Effects Usage Scale, Aesthetic Surgery Acceptance Scale and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. The collected data, using the SPSS program; analyzed using correlation, regression, independent sample t-test and Anova tests. The study findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between the use of Instagram story effects and acceptance of aesthetic surgery and self-esteem. In addition, accepting aesthetic surgery and low self-esteem can be explained by the use of Instagram story effects. Another important finding of the study is that using the story effects on Instagram negatively affects the perception of beauty.
