Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to investigate how university instructors perceive the challenges and benefits of e-learning, their attitudes towards using computer systems for e-learning, and their leisure interests regarding computer use. A total of 206 in-service university instructors who taught fully online classes for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) participated in the study, which utilized a mixed-method research design. Quantitative data was collected using an attitude scale, and qualitative data were collected from semi-structured interviews with instructors. The data were analyzed using SPSS and content analysis. Significant gender-based differences were found in the instructors' attitudes towards challenges, benefits, using computers for e-learning, and leisure interests in e-learning (p<.05). Additionally, there was a significant difference between instructors with 3-10 years of experience and those with 10 or more years of experience in their leisure interests in e-learning innovations and the use of computers (p<.05). The study provides insights and suggestions regarding the importance of professional development programs and access to necessary equipment and facilities for the effective utilization of e-learning for English language learning.
