Abstract (EN)
The aim of this psychological well-being study, which is done among the university students in Iran and Turkey, is to examine their levels in terms of happiness, parental attitude and values. The study group of the descriptive survey model research is consisted of 840 students from different fields of Mersin and Tabriz University. Psychological Well-Being Scale, Parental Attitude Scale, Oxford Happiness Scale, and Value Orientation Scale were applied to the study group. The results were analyzed in SPSS 25 software. He used the t-test for independent samples to determine whether there was a difference between the parental attitudes, happiness, value and psychological well-being mean scores according to the country of citizenship of the students, and the Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient to determine whether there was a significant relationship between psychological well-being, happiness, values and parental attitudes. In addition, multiple hierarchical regression analysis was performed on the data which is obtained from both groups, whether the variables were an important predictor of psychological well-being or not. In the analysis made in the research, while the authoritarian and protective-demanding parent attitude scores of the participants did not differ according to the variable of the country they are citizens of, the democratic parent attitude score averages of the participants who are Turkish citizens were observed to be significantly higher. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the values, psychological well-being and happiness score averages in favor of the Iranian citizen group. Furthermore, as a result of the correlation analysis, a positive relationship was found between psychological well-being and democratic parental attitudes, a negative relationship between authoritarian and protective/demanding parent attitudes, and a positive relationship between psychological well-being and happiness in both groups. Additionally, it has been observed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the psychological well-being and values of Iranian students. When the results of the multiple hierarchical regression analysis were examined, it was determined that only the democratic parental attitude was a significant and positive predictor of psychological well-being in both groups, and the contribution of the values variable to the variance was higher in the Iranian group, while the predictive rate of the happiness variable was higher in the Turkish group.
