Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to investigate whether the changes in color of pulpal bleeding is associated with clinical, histologic and immunological status of the pulp in permanent teeth. Bu çalışma, daimi dişlerde A total of 60 patients, 18–60 years old, consisting of; 32 reversible pulpitis, 28 irreversible pulpitis were included in this study. After pulpal exposure, pulpal blood was collected for blood color assessment. Blood samples were evaluated by spectrophotometer. Then, coronal pulp tissue was amputated for histologic assessment, and checked for hemostasis. IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17, TNF-α levels were measured by Luminex 200TM test after blood samples were obtained from reversible and irreversible pulpitis-diagnosed teeth. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS V23. The suitability of quantitative data to the normal distribution was examined by the Shapiro Wilk test. Mann Whitney U test from non-parametric methods in comparing data that does not meet normal distribution according to healthy and unhealthy groups. Pearson square test was used to compare inflammation distributions and bleeding times by groups (p < 0.05). According to the results of color analysis, blood color was significantly darker in irreversible pulpitis cases with severe inflammation. In addition, severe inflammation was higher in irreversible pulpitis group than reversible pulpitis group (p < 0.001). This study showed that pulp bleeding time was significantly different in pulpitis groups (p=0,002). According to statistical analysis of cytokine levels; IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17 levels of irreversible pulpitis cases were significantly higher than that of reversible pulpitis cases (p < 0.001). In conclusion, determination of blood color can be a valid clinical diagnostic criterion of pulpal status and can be used for the selection of appropriate pulp treatment strategy.
