Abstract (EN)
The city of basra, which was established for a military campus by Utbe b. Gazvan (17/638), developed rapidly over time and became a big city. There are many factors in the development of the city. The most important of these is that the city is located on the trade routes and there are fertile lands around it. We can see that the city is also cared for by state administrators and as a result, the city's governors were given broad powers and the city became the state capital city. In addition to the political history of Basra, which is one of the most important cities of Iraq, which still maintains its political and economic importance, we have discussed the notes of travelers who describe the city. We made an effort to compare the political history of the city and notes of travelers in general principles. With this study, we aimed to discuss the city from two different perspectives by taking Basra as a political history understanding, and the travel books that directly focus on society and visualize the conditions of the period. With this method, we think that the information about the history of Basra will be more understandable.
