Investigation of the influence of occupational burnout levels, perceived stress, strategies of coping with stress on marital satisfaction in İstanbul 112 emergency health service's employees

The purpose of the research is to investigate the influence of occupational burnout levels, perceived stress, strategies of coping with stress on marital satisfaction in Istanbul 112 emercency health service's employees. In addition, the study aims to put forward the affect of different variables such as, gender, age, duration of marriage, number of children, eldery relatives "parents" sharing the same home, profession tittle, spouse career, duration of employment, department represented, weekly working hours and income on marital satisfaction among staff employed in Istanbul 112 emercency health service. The research was based on 410 married indiviuals whom are employed in various departments of Istanbul 112 emercency health service. The survey was presented togetter with demograhic informative form to the participants. In the research "Burnout Measure-Short Version (BMS)", "Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), "Coping Stress Scale-Brief Form (CSS-BF)" and "Marriage Life Scale" were used by the researcher. The data was analised with Pearson Product Moment Correlation, t-test, ANOVA, Benferroni test, Games-Howel test, Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney u test, Spearman Correlation analysis and Linear Regression analysis among the participants. As a result, the occupational burnout levels, perceived stress and the strategies of coping with stress was found to have influence on maritial satisfaction among the staff employed in Istanbul 112 emercency health service. It was found that burnout levels were negatively correlated with marital satisfaction among participants. Perceived stress level was also negatively correlated with marital satisfaction. However, the strategies of coping with stress were positively correlated with marital satisfaction. It was observed that marital satisfaction level did not differentiate in respect of gender, number of children, eldery relatives "parents" sharing the same home and the income level among the Istanbul 112 emercency health service's employees. Conversely, marital satisfaction differenciated in respect of age, duration of marriage, profession title, spouse career, duration of employment, department represented, weekly working hours.
