In the istanbul sample, environmental graphic design problems: Billboard

Cities form the immediate environment of people, and people and the environment are in constant communication. In this research, it is aimed to reveal the design problems by considering billboards, which are one of the outdoor advertising tools in the city of Istanbul. The importance of billboards in creating a city identity has been emphasized. The first part of the study defines the history, purpose, application areas and principles and elements of graphic design that form a visual identity. In the second part, the importance of creating the right perception, creative thinking criteria and aesthetic values in the process of communicating with the relevant target audience was mentioned. In the third chapter, considering that graphic design is an advertising activity, advertising; its purpose, effects and methods, as well as the choice of the surface on which the advertising campaign will be presented, are discussed. The positive and negative sides of outdoor advertising and outdoor advertising tools are presented in this section. In the fourth and fifth sections, under the heading of billboard problems in the Istanbul sample; outdoor advertising regulations, problems in outdoor advertising, billboard problems in Istanbul were analyzed with examples and evaluations were made to protect the aesthetic structure of the city. Billboard is an important tool for transmitting ads to the community.
