From the experience of unity and cooperation to thepeople's horizon: The application of political organization in the provinces (1913-1946): The case of Siirt

In the first part of this study, the French Revolution that occurred at the end of the 18th century, the nationalism current that emerged due to the revolution and the changes brought about by the idea of the nation state were tried to be explained. The effects of the French revolution in the Ottoman Empire, which was a multinational state, were explained by creating a directory specific to the Siirt sanjak from the center to the provinces. In the following sections, the turmoil environment in the Ottoman Empire after the First World War, the support of the people of Siirt to the national struggle during the years of the National Liberation War, their perspective on the administration, the political formations in the Siirt sanjak and the reactions of the local people to these developments and changes are tried to be explained. If we summarize the political ground in Siirt in particular, the establishment of the new Turkish state by continuing the voting and electoral phenomenon that emerged as a result of the changes that started with the Tanzimat Edict, the first attempts to transition to multi-party life, the formation of the one-party political order and the legitimacy ground of the one-party system were emphasized. In particular, objective data were tried to be obtained as a result of archive scans along with a serious literature study on issues such as the political ground formed by the effect of changes, the elections held, the candidate candidates in the elections, and the election activities, and this information obtained was tried to be presented in an objective manner and within the rules of scientific ethics.
