Investigation on anxiety, life quality, and childbirth attitudes during IVF and regular pregnancy

Introduction and Aim: To indicate is there any difference about anxiety, life quality, and labor attitude between the woman who get pregnant by In Vitro Fertilization and who get pregnant by normal ways is important in the sense of increasing nursery quality and activity in order to plan and develop service that is going to be given. In this study; the aim is to indicate anxiety, life quality, and childbirth attitudes between the woman who get pregnant by IVF and who get pregnant by naturel ways. Material and Method: This research has been conducted in the Ministry of Health Gülhane Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinics and IVF center between March and June 2019. The research sample is 61 regular and 61 IVF pregnants (total 122) who apply to indicated clinic and IVF center when the research is conducted and are suitable for the criteria of research. Data are collected by using the Data Collection Form, Beck Anxiety Questionnaire, WHOQOL BREF(TR) Life Quality and Childbirth Attitudes Questionnaire. Data collected by research are evaluated by using frequency, percentage calculations, ki-kare test, Independent Sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test between 95% trust scale and p<0,05 significance level. Results: In the study, ıt is determined that there is a statistically significant difference according to Beck Anxiety Questionnaire (p<0,05) and WHOQOL BREF(TR) Life of Quality Questionnaire Sub-dimensions Spiritual Field (Z:-2,658; p<0,05) and Social Field (Z:-2,968; p<0,05) and Childbirth Attitudes Questionnaire (Z:-3,031; p<0,05) between regular pregnants and pregnants who become pregnant with IVF. There is not found a statistically significant difference in WHOQOL BREF(TR) Life of Quality Questionnaire Physical and Environmental Field sub-dimension scores (p>0,05). Conclusion and Suggestions: As a result, it has been found that woman who get pregnant by IVF have higher anxiety level and negatively affected life quality and childbirth attitudes when compared with the woman who get pregnant by natural ways. It is advised that diagnosis of anxiety and symptoms of the pregnant woman as soon as possible by health professionals, giving them psychologic and social support, giving them education about labor and post-labor periods and support them to develop personal coping skills during labor.
