Abstract (EN)

In the technology era, the digital nudging approach is increasingly becoming important in reaching people, directing human behavior, and directing them to more beneficial decisions and preferences for themselves and society. Digital nudge: It is a method that aims to increase individual and social welfare by directing user behavior towards the desired goal with the help of elements in the digital environment by making use of the insights obtained from behavioral economics. In today's daily life, many decisions are made online, such as shopping, healthcare, food choices, and travel plans. Because for policymakers, communicators, and designers, the way to obtain information about the behavior of individuals is through the analysis of decisions made in digital environments. Individuals' limited rationality and decision-making under the influence of many factors can distract them from rational decisions. Especially in the digital environment, individuals tend to make incomplete decisions. Due to the vast amount of information available on the Internet, individuals often fail to process all the relevant details to arrive at an optimal option. Instead, they often make hasty and automated decisions on screens. With the digital nudge, which can be expressed as the shaping of individuals' online decision-making environments as choice architects by public authorities, individuals can be directed to rational decisions in a way that will increase the welfare of both the individual and the society. At the same time, digital media offers various advantages for nudging; It makes the process easier, faster, and cheaper. Based on this determination, the aim of the thesis study is this study aims to examine the concept of digital nudging, with examples from the world, which does not have sufficient number of studies in the Turkish literature. Keywords: Public policies, Nudge, Digital nudge
