Abstract (EN)

This study carried out on endemic Kasnak oak (Quercus vulcanica Boiss. and Heldr. Ex Kotschy) effect of tree height, diameter, at base, diameter at breast height, and crown diameter on acorn production were examined together with their variaations in three sampled areas selected natural distribution of the species to contribute silvicultural and other forestry practices of the species. Averages of acorn numbers were 135.9, 435.1 and 183.3 in sampled areas and 251.4 in pooledof the areas. Trees within sampled area showed large difference for the acorn production. Acorn productions were significantly (p<0.05) difference in the sampled areas. Tree height, diameter at base and crown diameter showed significant (p<0.05) differences among sampled areas opposite to diameter at breast height (p>0.05) based on result of analysis of variance. Growth characteristics of pooled areas had significant (p<0.05) effective on acorn production. Tree height and crown diameter were better predictors than others to estimate acorn production accuraciliy according to results of regression analysis.
