Abstract (EN)

The pandemic process has profoundly influenced the ways individuals establish social relationships and has led to a noticeable increase in the number of romantic relationships maintained through digital platforms. This study aims to examine the effects of dating applications on individuals' personality traits, romantic relationship dynamics, and psychological well-being in the post-pandemic period. Within the scope of the research, the concepts of online and offline identity, attachment styles, personality theories, and the transformative role of digitalization on relationships are addressed in a multidimensional manner. Supported by quantitative research methods, this study analyzes the impact of dating applications on individuals' self-perceptions, relationship expectations, and social interaction practices based on data collected from 232 participants, aged 18–35, residing in Istanbul, regardless of gender. The findings indicate that digitalization has created new dynamics in romantic relationships and that these relationships generate both positive and negative effects on individuals' personality development. As data collection tools, the Five-Factor Personality Inventory, the Self-Disclosure Scale, and Sociodemographic Information Forms were used. In this context, the study not only contributes to the academic literature but also develops recommendations for healthier use of digital platforms by individuals.
