Disastrousness of mass influxes: New approaches to migration management from the perspective of Syrian influx

One of the most important social incidents of the mankind history, migration, has been appeared again in the last century in which two great wars have been experienced, in a form of mass and forced migration. This mass influxes of asylum seekers fleeing from war and conflict zones to safe countries, have also effected immigrant receiving countries and forced these countries to take measures against this mass influxes. Approximately six million people fleeing from war in Syria caused by the grassroots movements named as the Arab Spring which has effected the Middle East, have found asylum in neighbouring countries. More then three and a half million asylum seekers, Turkey is the country hosting the biggest asylum seeker population. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the effects of mass influxes which are trying to be managed by the already known methods to the immigrant receiving countries and in regard to these effects to offer a new approach for the management of the mass influxes. Against the asylum seeker centered view of the classical migration literatüre, this thesis analysis the subject from the point of immigrant receiving countires. According to this perspective, this thesis evaluates the disastrousness of mass influxes with regard to the effects of the Syrian asylum seekers in Turkey and argues that integrated disaster management systems are effective tools fort he management of the mass influxes.
