Abstract (EN)

Objectives: Our aim is to evaluate patients? admission complaints, colonoscopic findings and outcomes; to acquire three-year colonoscopy practice in our hospital, to compare these results with published data and to gain clinical benefits. Materials and Methods: All patients whom were referred to our Gastroenterology clinic for colonoscopy or had endications for colonoscopy in our outpatient-inpatient clinics are included to our study. Demographic features, family history, colon polyp or colorectal cancer history, endication, colonoscopic and pathologic findings are collected retrospectively from patients? colonoscopy and pathology reports. Results: Between September 2009 and April 2013, 738 patients are accepted for this retrospective study. Nearly fourty percent of them are in colorectal cancer screening group. Half of all patients are asymptomatic and rectal bleeding is mostly seen. Caecal intubation rate is %95,5. Polyp rate is %37 and dimunitive polyps and tubuler adenomas are the most common size-based and histologic type of them. Sixty percent of advanced adenomas are large-sized. Colorectal cancer is diagnosed %2,6 of patients. Diverticular disease is prevelant in %19,6 of patients and half of them are localized in left colon. Inflamatory bowel disease is diagnosed %6,6 of patients; respectively pancolitis and ileitis/ileocolitis are the most common types for ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease. Conclusion: We found that our patients demographic features, colonoscopy endications, polyp sizes and histopathological features, colorectal cancer rate, inflammatory bowel disease rates and localizations, age spectrum and localizations for diverticular disease are compatible with published data.
