Abstract (EN)
Mehmet Vehbi Efendi, one of the religious scholars of the Republicn era in Turkey, wrote a large commentary called Hulâsât'ul-Beyan. This Tafseer includes the comments and evaluations made by Mehmet Vehbi Çelik Efendi on the verses about Christianity and Christians. This study aims at understanding the verses of the Qur'an related to Christianity and Christians more clearly. The main subject of the study is centred around the Qur'an calls 'People of the Book'. Firstly, the interpretations of Mehmet Vehbi Efendi to the verses were analyzed and then, other sources and opinions of commentators were consulted in order to reach a coherent understanding of how the verses on Christians were interpreted in Hulâsât'ul-Beyan.
