Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to examine gambling addiction, sleep quality, depression and anxiety levels of individuals who play cryptocurrency. The research is an important step towards understanding the effects of cryptocurrency use on individuals' psychological and sleep health. This study provides an opportunity to understand the rising popularity of cryptocurrency and the effects of its increased use. The methodology of the study involves data collection through an online survey. The questionnaire included questions measuring participants' sociodemographic information, cryptocurrency use, gambling addiction, depression and anxiety levels, and sleep quality. In total, 129 people participated in the study. SPSS 25.0 statistical analysis program was used to analyze the data obtained. Normality analysis results showed that the data were suitable for parametric data analysis. In order to evaluate the reliability of the study, internal consistency analysis was conducted using Cronbach Alpha coefficient. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis was applied to understand the relationship between the variables. After the relevant prerequisites were met, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was preferred to determine the differences between the groups. Simple linear regression analysis was applied to measure the effect levels of the relationships and hierarchical linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the effect of mediating variables. According to the results of the correlation analysis, a strong relationship with gambling addiction was found among individuals who play cryptocurrency. This finding suggests that cryptocurrency trading may trigger gambling-like behaviors and increase the risk of gambling addiction. In addition, it was determined that the level of sleep quality was low among individuals who play cryptocurrency. Individuals engaged in cryptocurrency trading were found to have sleep problems due to factors such as investment stress, market fluctuations, and constantly following current news. However, no significant relationship was found in the level of depression among individuals who play cryptocurrency. This result shows that cryptocurrency use has different effects on depression and may differ between individuals. The relationship between anxiety level and cryptocurrency use was also examined. The results of the study showed that the level of anxiety is high among individuals who play cryptocurrency. Factors such as uncertainty, risk, and market fluctuations associated with cryptocurrency trading may increase the level of anxiety. This study provides important findings for understanding gambling addiction, sleep quality, depression and anxiety levels of individuals who play cryptocurrency. The results emphasize that cryptocurrency use can have a complex impact on psychological health and that these factors should be taken into account. Future studies are of great importance to further explore the findings in this area and to develop possible intervention strategies.
