Abstract (EN)

Objectives: Chronic Urticaria is one of the dermatological diseases that significantly reduces the quality of life. Antihistaminic drugs are commonly used in therapy. It is known that Omalizumab, a next generation biological drug that acts on the IgE, is also effective. The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and the Chronic Urticaria Quality of Life Questionnaire (CU - Q2oL) are two validated life quality tests, that can be used to assess the eficacy of the treatments applied. In this study it was aimed to measure the change in the quality of life of patients with treatment in chronic urticaria by using DLQI and CU - Q2oL and to compare the efficacy of this data with the antihistamine drug group and the Omalizumab drug group. Methods and Materials: A total of 76 chronic urticaria patients whose age is between 18 and 65, who have applied to the Hospital of Şişli Florence Nightingale during the year of 2017, without any genetic or chronic disease and whose physical examinations were performed seperately, were included in this study. The patients were measured at the initial stage and re -measured of DLQI and CU - Q2oL values after 8 weeks. The resultant and its difference has been statistically evaluated. Results: The changes in the second month's measurements of the group receiving Omalizumab compared to the first DLQI measurements were statistically significantly higher than the changes of antihistaminic group (p=0.001, p<0.01). The changes in the 2nd month measurements compared to the first CU-Q2oL measurements of the group treated with Omalizumab were statistically significantly higher than those of the antihistaminic group (p = 0.001, p <0,01). There was a positive direction between the results of DLQI and CUQoL (DLQI increased as CUQoL increased) of 64.5% that was statistically significant (r: 0,645, p = 0,001, p <0,01). Conclusions: The results of our study indicate that treatment with 300mg /month of Omalizuhab drug is more effective than therapy with full dose of 2. Generation H1 antihistamine treatment in both of the quality of life indices (CUQ2oL and DLQI). Key words: Chronic urticaria, Life Quality, Omalizumab, Antihistamine
