Impacts of globalisation on employment in the health care sector in Turkey

Globalisation is a broad concept and has affected countries economically, politically and culturally and variation of technology has speeded up these impacts. Globalisation process, and the increasing population has increased the health care demand. Use of various technologies in the health care industry has been widely increased, therefore a new market was created. The world countries has encountered difficulties meeting the demands of elderly population and high expectancy of health industry. All of these developments were the main reasons causing the health industry to grow rapidly in a competitive environment.These changes in the world has effected Turkey as well. In Turkey, in parallel to the world, technological innovation, competition, pressure of the rising costs and other developments have led to the Turkish health sector restructuring. In line with global trends, the nature of employment increased sharply, while employment has changed in shape, technology itself has created new employment areas and rapid and widespread use of health technology has become common. The needs of an aging population, increasing demand for health care and the widespread use of medical technology rapidly caused the growing lack of health care staff in Turkey.Key Words: Globalisation, Technology, Health, Employment
