Abstract (EN)
One of the most important signs of the existence of societies is the cultural and artistic works that represent them. It is possible to reach some conclusions about the development of humanity, as well as the data of that society, as a result of examining the civilizations and cultural art works that cultures created by passing through many time periods and experiencing interactions with other cultures. It has been determined as a result of the research of the handicrafts of these societies that the Native American (American Indians) cultures living in the USA and the Turkish culture have similar characteristics. There are similar formal features between the motifs used in beadwork ornaments, one of the traditional arts of the Indians, and the geometric motifs used in traditional handicrafts, which have an important place in the history of Turkish culture, and especially in rug weaving. A comparison of the two cultures will be made through the motifs that reflect the characters of two different societies and enable these works of art to reach evolution. Motifs, as the smallest ornamental units of patterns reflecting cultures, are formed as a result of many factors such as beliefs, myths, legends and the geography they live in a long period of time. The origin of the motifs of these two cultures, which are the subject of research, is generally based on the belief system and mythological origins.
