Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is determine usefulness of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for larynx cancers.Diffusion-weighted echo-planar imaging were studied in 20 patients with laryngeal cancer. Measured apperent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of b 100, b 600, b 1000 at normal laryngeal region were 0,000661 ± 0,000352 mm²/sec, 0,000610 ± 0,000157 mm²/sec and 0,000502 ± 0,0002 mm²/sec, respectively. ADC values of b 100 b, 600 b and b 1000 at pathological region were 0,00295 ±0,000786 mm²/sec, 0,00197 ± 0,000570 mm²/sec and 0,00142 ±0,000400 mm²/sec, respectively.Apperent diffusion coeffisient (ADC) values of the pathological region in cases with laringeal cancers were found significantly higher than normal laryngeal region. Measured ADC values at b 100, b 600 and b 1000 in pathological and normal regions were compared between themselves and significant difference was observed. ADC values at pathological region were compared between themselves and their correlations (R) were observed as significant in the comparison among b 100, b 600, b 1000.Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) may be useful for the planning of early diagnosis and treatment and also it is an important imaging modality to use in a short time for patients with laryngeal cancers. Keywords: Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, larynx cancer, ADC.
