Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study; application of lavender scented microcapsules to cotton fabrics and determining their washing performance. For this purpose, commercially purchased lavender-scented microcapsules were transferred to cotton woven fabrics using two different methods, and the effect of application methods on the odor permanence of the fabrics after repeated washing was investigated. Morphological characterization of the microcapsules transferred to the fabrics via impregnation and rotary printing methods was performed via SEM (Scanning electron microscopic analysis). The obtained fabric samples were repeatedly washed 20 cycles. After washing, the morphological analyses of the fabrics were analyzed via SEM and the chemical structures of the fabrics were analyzed via FTIR-ATR (Fourier transform infrared attenuated total reflectance). In addition, the odor persistence and odor reduction of the fabrics were subjectively evaluated using independent and different demographic characteristics. The subjective evaluations were made via applying the survey method. The obtained results were analyzed using the repeated measures (ANOVA) statistical method. The fastness and performance tests of the group of fabrics with the highest odor persistence after repeated washing were performed in accordance with the relevant standards. The results of the dissertation study; ensuring odor permanence on textile surfaces subjected to repeated washing showed that microcapsules vary depending on the application method. Using SEM and FTIR analyzes, the presence of microcapsules in the textiles was determined. In the subjective evaluation of the washing results of the fabrics, it was found that the fabrics produced by the printing method had a stronger odor than those produced by the impregnation method. In addition, it was found that the microcapsules, auxiliary chemicals and agents used during the rotary printing process do not negatively affect the fastness and performance values of the fabrics.
