Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the relationships between high school students' game addiction levels and their academic achievement and behavioral problems. The research was designed based on the relational screening method, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The participants of the study consist of 994 high school students studying in Elazığ city center. Information form containing demographic features and previous year's average score, game addiction scale and behavioral problems scale were used as data collection tools. The results of the study show that digital game addiction predicts academic achievement in a negative way and significantly predicts behavioral problems in a positive way. In addition, it has been determined that behavioral problems predict academic achievement negatively. Moreover, it has been determined that game addiction and behavioral problems differs significantly according to gender, class level, perceived income level and school type. Some limitations and recommendations for future researches have been discussed. Keywords: Game Addiction, Academic Achievement, High School Students, Secondary Education Level, Behavioral Problems.
