Abstract (EN)
Participation in adventure recreation has been in a serious upward trend in recent years. It has become a leading genre, especially for alternative recreation activities. In this study, it is aimed to examine the sensation and change seeking of individuals who voluntarily participate in adventure recreation. The scope of the research is youth camps and adventure recreation (Climbing wall, Rope track, Paintball, Zipline, Free jumping, etc.) that continue their activities with public and private sector investments within the borders of Gaziantep province.) are individuals who participate in activities in their field. The sample consists of a total of 1037 participants, 415 men and 622 women, aged 15 and over, selected by random sampling method. As measurement tools, the Sensation Seeking scale developed by Hoyle and his colleagues (2002) and adapted to Turkish Culture by Çelik and Turan (2016), and the Change Seeking Scale developed by Steenkamp and Baumgartner (1995) and adapted into Turkish by Yıldırım (2018) data were used as a collection tool. For the normality distribution of the data, the kurtosis skewness values were checked and it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. In the analysis of the data, Independent Samples t test and Oneway Anova test and correlation analysis were used for the relationship between them, and Post Hoc LSD test was used to reveal the difference between the groups. The p<.05 significance level was taken into account in the statistical analysis and interpretation of the data. As a result, it was determined that gender, age, experience, marital status, occupation and sports status were effective on sensation and change seeking, and a moderately positive relationship was found between sensationseeking and change seeking. When considering an exciting activity, participating in adventure recreation is recommended for those seeking sensation and change.
