Some khalwatiyya sages (Pirs), their sufistic views and khalwatiyya rules and conventions within the scope of the work "Menaqib-i Sharif and Tariqatnama-i Piran and Mashayikh-i Tariqat-i Aliyya-i Khalwatiyya"

Khalwatiyya is among the principal branches of religious orders. It is one of the most widely spread orders in Anatolia, leading to the emergence of numerous successors and subdivisions. Our research focuses on the work of Yusuf b. Yakub, "Menaqib-i Sharif And Tariqatnama-i Piran And Mashayikh-i Tariqat-i Aliyya-i Khalwatiyya" which narrates the virtues and significant spiritual leaders of the Khalwatiyya. The work consists of three parts: introduction, anecdotes, and conclusion. The anecdotal section, forming the crux of the work, encompasses information about prominent figures-Çelebi Afandi, Sünbül Afandi, Merkez Afandi, and Yakub Afandi -who held the position of sheikh at the Kocamustafapaşa lodge, playing crucial roles in the dissemination of the order. Within the framework of this foundational work on Khalwatiyya, the study primarily examines the emergence of religious orders in the history of Sufism and the position of Khalwatiyya. It provides information about the genesis of the order-the concept of seclusion (Khalwat) and Khalwati practices, its lineage, branches, etiquettes, and customs. The study also delves into the historical development of the order, touching upon the influence of individuals and contemporary rulers on its expansion. Furthermore, by discussing the historical and social events of the period, it scrutinizes the lives and Sufi ideologies of Çelebi Afandi, Sünbül Afandi, Merkez Afandi and Yahya Afandi.
