Turkey?s Arab ?Middle East domestic policy in Menderes government

In this thesis , I have tried to analyse the politic relations between Turkey and Arab Governments, which take place in the Middle East , after Menderes cabinet came to power in Turkey . At the beginning of 1950?s, Menderes cabinet tried to follow an active politics to Middle East Region with whom Turkish Republic had no active policies date from the foundation. After participating in NATO, Turkey has followed the same politics with England and USA in this area. Menderes cabinet?s goal was in an effort to get ABD?s military , political and economical support to guarantee against to Soviet Unions and Communism . Menderes Government that carries this goals , firstly has tried to serve Middle East Development Project which is British Government?s foreign policy attitude study. Although Turkey had an active part at this project, Menderes cabinet was not supported by Arab countries. Later on, England has changed the name of the project and has founded Middle East Defence Organization; however in spite of the Turkey?s support, Arab World has not shown an interest in this project. As a result of a failure of the projects that England has served, Turkey began to follow strategies in the Middle East which USA made up. For instance Turkey followed an active policy in ?Baghdad Pact Project? which was planned by USA. In that time, although Turkey has also followed an active politic in this region , there has never been beter relations between Turkey and Arab Countries. The first reason according to Arab World was that Turkey has have the same politics with imperialist Western World and the second reason was that Turkey has recognized Israel. Menderes cabinet has acted all crisis such as 1956 the Suez Canal , 1957 Syria , 1957 ?1958 Lebanon and Jordan ,1958 Iraq revolution, with Western countries and has supported their operations and got their views .Key words : Arab Middle East , Treaty of Baghdad Pact , CENTO ( Central Treaty Organization ) , Northern hemisphere , Menderes Government, Middle East Defence Organization
