Abstract (EN)
Metabolic syndrome (MetS), led by insulin resistance It is a set of clinical features that includes obesity, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease (CAD). Given the rapidly increasing prevalence of MetS (20-30% of the general world population) and possible harmful consequences, further research is needed to uncover its predictive factors and mechanisms. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a very insidious disease, the most common type of diabetes, and negatively affects life expectancy worldwide. Since metabolic diseases such as T2DM and obesity cause many health problems in the body, the relationship between the hormones secreted is important in their improvement. In our study, we aimed to determine the relationship between irisin and asprosin levels and insulin resistance markers and cardiovascular disease risk in patients with Metabolic Syndrome (MetS), obesity and Type 2 (T2DM) diabetes. Our study included 120 patient groups and 25 control groups. Asprosin, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, insulin, HDL, HOMA, BMI were found to be significantly higher in patients with metabolic syndrome compared to the control group (respectively p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000). In patients with Metabolic Syndrome, irisin was found to be significantly lower (p=0.000). Asprosin, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglyceride (TG), insulin, HDL, HOMA, BMI were found to be significantly higher in patients with T2DM compared to the control group (respectively p=0.000, p= 0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.007, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000). In patients with T2DM, irisin was found to be significantly lower (p=0.000). In conclusion, irisin levels were found to be low and asprosin levels were found to be high within the groups in our study. With this situation, by revealing the levels of the newly discovered irisin and asprosin markers in obesity, MetS and Type 2 DM diseases, answers will be given about the causes and treatment of these diseases.
