Patients with migraine determination of nutritional status and anthropometric measurements

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the relation between daily dietary with anthropometric measurements, biochemical parameters and nutrional habits. The study was planned on 60 (51 female, 9 male) who were conducted on individuals with migraine disease between 18-66 years to Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital Outpatient Clinic between March 2013-June 2013. A questionnaire was administered to participants including personal characteristic, general health information and nutritional habits. Anthropometric measurements, biochemical parameters and physical activity levels of the participants were also determined. The nutritional status of individuals was determined by food-frequency questionnaire, the frequency of consumption of foods that trigger migraines. 40% of individuals who participated in the study reported smoking, 21.7% alcohol. Of individuals and 66.7% of 3 main meals are consumed. Individuals participating in the study 31.7% slightly overweight, 18.3% are obese. In the study of individuals age, BMI, body weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference and waist-hip ratio average order 39.2±11.79 years, 25.73±5.31 kg/m2, 68.53±14.16 kg, 163±0.06 cm, 85.87±13.6 cm , 102.9±12.36 cm and 0.83±0.08, respectively. Of migraine patients participated in the study, 78.3% (n=47) had migraine with aura, 21.7% (n=3) have type migraine without aura. In patients compared to patients with aura without aura average hip circumference is greater (p<0.05). However, there is no statistically significant difference was observed (p>0.05). During acute attack of nausea, dizziness, headaches and visual impairment in patients with migraine with aura compared to patients without aura statistically significant at the 95% confidence intervals were determined very high (p<0.05). Stress, strong odors and weather changes in migraine patients with aura, migraine without aura patients significantly more in accordance with the triggering factor is defined as (p<0.05). Types of migraine with and without aura was not statistically significant difference between the number of attacks per week (p>0.05). In our study, tea, chocolate and tomatoes in individuals consuming compared to individuals who do not consume more than is seen in the number of attacks. The tomatoes consumption 133.3±96.82 g patients without aura, migraine with aura is determined as a mean of 86±32.3 g. Of patients compared to patients without aura, migraine with aura is more than the amount they consume tomatoes in statistical terms is significant at 95% confidence interval (p <0.05). Of patients compared to patients without aura, migraine with aura statistically they consume more tomatoes in the range of 95% confidence level (p<0.05). According to consume tea drinker patients without aura, migraine with aura is a risk that the risk is greater than average 0.27 times. 95% confidence interval 7.22 times the risk is up to (OR=4.7 [%95 CI 1.0-22.7], p=0.037). Magnesium levels in individuals of patients with aura 2.0±0.17 mg/dL, without aura 1.7±0.04 mg/dL, respectively. Statistically, 95% confidence interval statistically lower compared to individuals without aura, migraine with aura individuals are magnesium levels (p<0.05). Individuals participating in the study, 56.7% insufficient energy, 50% more protein and 100% is insufficient fiber. The average energy intake of patients with migraine with aura 1643±662.02 kcal/day, average energy expenditure 2125.2±316.24 kcal/day. The average energy intake of patients with migraine without aura 1791.2±539.48 kcal/day average energy expenditure 2122.3±387.01 kcal/day. Of migraine with and without aura between energy intake and energy expenditure there is no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). As a result of stress in migraine with and without aura, the weather changes and strong odors are the most important precipitating factor. Obese individuals migraine and migraine frequency difference between is known to be high though not seen. Key words: Migraine, headache, nutrition, trigger foods, anthropometric measurement
