The evaluation of the rhythm in architecture in context of daily life in context of basic design items and principles on traditional Urfa streets

Rhythms affect human life in various areas as well as the places where people live.In this way, the rhythms, which also touch on architecture, transfer the traces of daily life to architecture.Especially, street architecture is a place where the rhythms of daily life are seen more clearly due to its presence in a public space. Thus, street architecture enables everyday life to be embodied and to gain an identity.The aim of this study is to reveal the formation forms of architectural rhythms in traditional Urfa streets through spatial, facade, formal, symbolic and material.Another aim of the study is to examine the roles of architectural elements on the streets in determining the thresholds of public and private spaces through rhythms. First of all, the basis of the study was formed by scanning the relevant literature.As a result of the literature review, it has been seen that although there are many studies on traditional Urfa houses, there are few studies about the streets of Urfa, only studies on the private area, and there are no detailed studies on public space architecture.From this point of view, it is thought that the study will contribute to the literature.In the study, rhythm was examined in two stages in the context of daily life in traditional Urfa streets, based on basic design principles-elements and Henri Lefebvre readings.The data about the architectural rhythm obtained by using techniques such as 2D drawing, photography and collage related to the study area were used in the analysis in the context of design principles-elements and daily life. This study, which sheds light on the debates about the design and valuation process of architecture in the context of city-architecture-street texture, is a source for future academic studies and restoration studies in terms of the historical feature of the area. It has been reached as a result of the analysis of daily life and street forms that traditional Urfa streets are not only a vehicle used to reach houses, but that the streets have their own identity. Architectural elements contain both daily life rhythms and design principles-elements. Thus, it has been seen that the street architecture is not shaped according to a single data.
