Abstract (EN)

In this M.Sc. thesis was carried out on 1+0 and 1+1 year contanier seedlings of Mediterranean cypress (Cupressus sempervirens L. var. horizontalis (Mill.) Gord.) and Arizona cypress (C. arizonica Greene) were examined to contribute seed technology and nursery practices of the cypresses based on seedling (SH) height and root-collar diameter (RCD). The characteristics were studied morphological and seedling quality in the study. Averages of SH and RCD of 1+0 and 1+1 years seedlings were 21.7 cm and 2.94 mm, 25.8 cm and 3.07 mm in Mediterranean cypress.Hovewer, while they were 24.4 cm and 3.43 mm, 24.9 cm and 3.21 mm in Arizona cypress, respectively. Seedling groups were generally similar (p>0.05), while they were significant difference (p<0.05) for sturdiness index. Positive and significant (p<0.05) correlations were estimated between SH and RCD depending on correlation analysis in seedling groups and species. All seedlings of the species were in quality class for classes of Turkish Standard Institute for root-collar diameter. Percentage of quality seedlings were 90% in Mediterranean cypress, and 49% in Arizona cypress for seedling height. 1+0 year seedlings had better quality than 1+1 year seedlings for sturdiness index in Mediterrenean cypress opposite to Arizona cypress.
