Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to evaluate the substantia alba and substantia grisea, total ventriculus lateralis, right and left ventriculus lateralis, ventriculus tertius, and ventriculus quartus volumes of patients diagnosed with MS. Our retrospective study was conducted by examining the records of a total of 100 individuals between the ages of 18-70. Images of 50 patients diagnosed with MS and the same number of healthy individuals for the control group were included in the measurement criteria. Volume analyses from cranial radiological images of the T1 sequence were performed using the "volBrain Volumetry Report, version 1.0" program, which is a web-based automatic volume calculation system. Statistical analyses were performed in R 4.3.1 (www.r-project.org). In our study, it was observed that total ventriculus lateralis, right and left ventriculus lateralis volumes decreased statistically significantly in the MS group compared to the control group (p˂0.001). Ventriculus tertius and ventriculus quartus volumes were also found to decrease significantly (p˂0.001, p=0.015, respectively). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups when substantia grisea and substantia alba volumes were analyzed (p = 0.427 and 0.985, respectively). However, it was shown that the MS group's CSF volume had decreased (p = 0.031). The data of our study will be a preliminary reference for future studies. Moreover, we believe that the size of ventricular volumes in MS patients will help with the disease's clinical phases and the course of treatment.
