Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study; Which anthropometric measurement (BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist/hip, neck circumference, waist/height, body shape index, body roundness index, visceral adiposity index) is a better indicator in healthy individuals with NAFLD, compliance with the Mediterranean diet and to evaluate biochemical parameters. The study was carried out in the gastroenterology outpatient clinic of Ankara Gülhane Training and Research Hospital with 41 healthy individuals diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease between the ages of 30-64. In the study, a questionnaire form that questioned socio-demographic characteristics, nutritional habits, general information about NAFLD, anthropometric measurements, biochemical parameters, adherence to the Mediterranean diet (PREDİMED), frequency of food consumption and 3-day food consumption record was applied to the individuals by face-to-face interview method. In the study, 63,4% of healthy individuals and 48,8% of individuals with NAFLD were female; it was determined that the mean age of healthy individuals was 42,1410,29, and the average age of individuals with NAFLD was 46,9310,50 years. PREDIMED total mean score of healthy individuals (5,832,14); It is higher than individuals with NAFLD (5,021,85) (p>0,05). In addition, according to the PAL value classification; It was determined that individuals with NAFLD were classified as bed- or chair-bound, and individuals with NAFLD were less physically active (p>0,05). In the study, individuals with NAFLD had higher triglyceride, VLDL cholesterol, AST, ALT and GGT levels than healthy individuals, and lower HDL cholesterol levels (p<0,05). It was determined that the averages of body weight, BMI, waist circumference, waist/height, hip circumference, waist/hip, neck circumference, body fat mass, body shape index, body roundness index and visceral fat index of individuals with NAFLD were higher than healthy individuals (p<0,05). As a result of the study, the anthropometric measurements with the highest performance criteria that can be used in individuals with NAFLD are respectively; waist circumference, BMI, waist/height ratio, body roundness index and visceral adiposity index. In conclusion; It is thought that following the individuals at risk for NAFLD under the control of dietitians using these anthropometric measurements, encouraging the Mediterranean diet and increasing their physical activity levels will play an effective role in preventing the course, development and complications of the disease.
