Study of the relationship between the degree of perception of non-cardiac (non-heart related) chest networks and their aleks and social support levels

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the degree of perception of non-cardiac (non-heart-related) chest pains and the relationship between alexicyte and social support. The sample of this study consisted of 385 patients who applied to cardiology outpatient clinics at Sanliurfa Application and Research Hospital. The data of the study were collected with Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Chest Pain Rating. According to statistical analyses, the relationship between chest pain level and alexicyte was strongly positive (r=0.70) and significant (p<0.05), while the relationship between chest pain level and perceived social support was moderately negative (r=-0.62) and significant (p<0.05). In addition, alexithymia and perceived social support significantly predicted the level of chest pain (F=219.485; p<0.05). Alexithymia and perceived social support significantly explain 53.2% (Adj. r2=0.532) of the individual's perceived level of chest pain. In addition, both alexithymia and perceived social support significantly predicted the level of chest pain separately (p<0.05).
