Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to investigate the attitudes of 4th grade students in the chair of primary in education faculty towards teaching profession in terms of some variants. The scope of the study is composed of the students attending 4th grade in Education Faculty at Fırat University, İnönü University and Erzincan University. Sample group includes totally 312 students, 172 of whom are males and 140 of whom are female students, studying in these classes during 2008-2009 Education-Teaching year.The data related to the study were gathered by attitude scale toward teaching profession developed by the researcher. In the first part of the scale composed of two parts, there was personal information, and in the second part, there were attitude expressions in total in order to determine the profession attitudes of the candidates.The data collected from the scale were analyzed by SPSS packet program on computer by being coded. Frequency, arithmetic average and percentage distribution related to the data of the first part of the scale were taken. To determine the attitudes of the students, t-test for independent groups in paired comparisons and one way analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in comparison of variants over two were used to present the difference of the attitudes. In addition, Levene test was used to understand the homogeneity of the data. Whether there is a significant difference among ideas was tested on ? = 0.05 significance level. Moreover, this study was done at 95% confidence interval.At the end of the study, there were suggestions by the researcher according to the data collected from literature review and research. The findings from the study are as following:1. The attitudes of Class Teaching Department students toward teaching profession are generally positive.2. It is seen that the attitudes of the students toward teaching profession change according to gender and female students have more positive attitudes than male students.3. It is seen that the attitudes of the students toward master education of teaching profession change according to gender and female students have more positive attitudes and more academic perception than male students.4. It is seen that the attitudes of the students change according to the type of high school they graduated but there is not any significant difference among them. It is seen that the students who graduated from regular high school have more positive attitudes than the students who graduated from super high schools and Anatolian teacher high school.5. It is seen that there is a significant difference among attitudes toward master education according to the high school they graduated. Yet, it is seen that the students who graduated from super high schools lean more toward master education than the students who graduated from regular high schools and Anatolian teacher high schools.6. It was determined that parental profession and education background of the father do not change the professional attitudes of the students.7. It is seen that there is not a difference among professional attitudes according to the variant of existence of a teacher and toward master education in the family of the students.8. It was determined that there is a significant difference among professional attitudes according to family income state of the students. It is seen that monthly family low and middle-income students have more positive professional attitudes than monthly family high-income students.9. A significant difference among attitudes toward master education was determined according to family income state. Monthly family high-income families have more career perceptions and of academic requirements than monthly family low and middle-income families.
