Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' attitudes towards technology and their resistance to change in public primary and secondary schools in four central districts of Mersin (Akdeniz, Mezitli, Toroslar, Yenişehir). In addition to this main purpose, it is aimed to determine the level of teachers' attitudes towards technology, the level of teachers' resistance to change, and to examine these together with the variables of school type, seniority, branch and gender. The relationship between teachers' attitudes towards technology and their resistance to change was examined with the relational screening method. In this research, the opinions of 494 primary and secondary school teachers working in public schools in the central districts of Mersin Provincial Directorate of National Education in 2021-2022 were collected. The scale of "Assessment of Attitudes towards Technology" was used to determine teachers' attitudes towards technology, and the scale of "Resistance to Change" was used to determine teachers' resistance to change. The data obtained with the 25 version of the SPSS package program was analyzed. T-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analyzes were performed on the data, and the results were interpreted according to the significance level of p<0.01 and p<0.05. According to the results of the research, the attitudes of teachers working in primary and secondary schools towards technology are positive. According to the gender variable, male teachers' attitudes towards technology are higher than female teachers in the dimensions of "Monitoring Technology", "Technology and Management", "Fear of Technology", "Internet Use" and "Technology Use". According to the school type variable, secondary school teachers' attitudes towards technology are higher than primary school teachers in the dimensions of "Internet Use" and "Technology Use". There is no significant difference in the level of teachers' attitudes towards technology according to their seniority. When the results of the teachers' resistance to change are examined, the general opinions are at the level of undecided. In the dimension of "Emotional Response", which is one of the sub-dimensions of resistance to change according to their gender, female teachers' resistance to change was found to be higher than male teachers. No significant difference was found in the levels of resistance to change according to the school type variable. According to the variable of professional seniority, there was no significant difference in the resistance levels of teachers to change. There is a significant and negative relationship between teachers' attitudes towards technology and their level of resistance to change. It is seen that teachers' attitudes towards technology are predictive of routine seeking, emotional reaction and short-term focus, which are sub-dimensions of resistance to change. In the last part of the study, these results were discussed based on the literature, and suggestions were presented to experts and researchers. Keywords: Attitude Towards Technology, Change, Resistance to Change.
