Abstract (EN)
Peer education is a new concept in education area. Peer Education is used with different expressions in the educational literature such as Peer education, peer assistance, education with peer support, and peer learning. In other expression of Peer education, it is described that one of peer educator who has older, educative and instructive knowledge teaches to another person. This survey made to inspect and search attitudes of pre-school and elementary schools teachers towards Peer education. Scientific scanning method was applied to find solutions the problems and sub-problems of this purpose. Quantitative data collection method was used during the survey. Peer education attitude scale was used to measure attitudes of the teachers towards peer education and quantitative research. The scale, which was developed early stage of research, was used to 270 pre-school and elementary school teachers who were selected by the researcher. Peer education attitude scale was applied to pre-school and elementary school teachers who work in Fatih and Kucukcekmece, Istanbul region at the second part of research. And it revised and tested final version of the research. This survey consists of 338 pre-school and elementary school teachers at Fatih, Istanbul and 66pre-school and elementary school teachers at Kucukcekmece, Istanbul. Samples were selected in two different town. 404 pre-school and elementary school teachers were selected as a volunteer fort his survey. Peer education attitude scale was calculated with two different methods. First of all, Crombach alfa inner consistency coeeficiency was calculated for the whole scale 0,889; for first dimension 0,931, second dimension 0.711. The median method was used to calculate and test reliability level of the survey as second method. Spearman Brown was found two half test correlations 0,864. Because of the fact that Crombach is bigger than 0,7 and Spearman Brown half test correlation is bigger than 0,6, Peer education attitude scale is a reliable instrument to measure the teachers' attitudes towards Peer education. At this part of the survey, teachers' demographic features (gender, age, education level, majors, type of institution, satisfaction of being teacher, town where the teacher work, condition of peer education) were found frequencies and percentile distribution, and then SS and SHx values were distributed equally and represented with tables. The teachers were tested with analysis of variance (ANOVA) to find the differences between dependent and independent variables(gender, age, education level, majors, type of institution, satisfaction of being teacher, town where the teacher work, condition of peer education). The researcher applied independent T test to the teachers to specify the satisfaction level of teachers. After the results of ANOVA, if there are different results, post-hocScheffe was applied to find the reasons of differences among groups. The teachers' average points was found 4,02 as a results of Peer education attitude scale and this level was found high. First dimension average point was resulted 4,18. This level is also high. Second dimension average point was found medium level 3,41. As a result, there is no big differences between teachers' attitudes towards peer education, using peer education and contents of peer education at this survey when it was searched statistically with gender. Peer education attitude points and sub-dimensions points were found high on young teachers. Teachers who graduated from college and occupational high schools were found higher Peer education attitude points that other teachers. Pre-schools teachers' attitudes points, usage and content points and sub-dimentions points were found higher than elementary school teachers. Teachers who have less experience were found higher attitudes points, usage and content points than other teachers. Teachers who work on private schools were found higher Peer education attitude scale points and program content sub-dimension points than other teachers. Teachers who are not satisfied with their job were found higher peer education attitudes points than teachers who are satisfied with their jobs. Teachers who took peer education were found higher Peer Education Attitue points than other teachers.
