Abstract (EN)
Discipline is a concept that makes inverstment to the educational life of students in classes and schools. Creating and applying discipline in schools is one of the most important issues that educators deal with. Discipline should not be regarded as just ordinary rules that will be applied. Discipline must become a part of education and it must take the form of behaviours that students practice in daily life. Disciplinary approach has been changing rapidly as everything else. In parallel with the disciplinary incidents from past to present, the control must exist absolutely and it should be implemented by school administrators. The aim of this study is to investigate how the disciplinary approach of school administrators should be according to the teachers. This research is a quantative study in general screening model. The data were obtained from the views of 82 teachers working at 4 High Schools and 4 Vocational High Schools including a total of 8 High Schools in Başakşehir district of İstanbul. As a data collection tool, "The scale of disciplinary approaches in school" (Özcan,H.Ö.2008) was used. Data were evaluated by t-test and one-way analysis of variance using SPSS 22 for Windows software As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that when gender and seniority variables were based, the attitudes of teachers towards disciplinary approaches of school principals were generally negative. Teachers do not believe that school principles treat fairly when applying discipline in schools; research the cause of the attitude of their subordinates who act inappropriately to disciplinary rules; train their subordinates who act inappropriately to disciplinary rules in order to to let them to make desired behaviors and guide their subordinates who do not comply with the disciplinary rules to solve the problems. The recommendations reached at the end of the study; administrators should trust teachers and should believe in teachers' being self-controlled. Managers should check regularly and constantly to what extent teachers obey the rules of discipline and as a result of the control, teachers who comply with the rules should be rewarded. Key words: management, manager, leadership, discipline
