Onat Kutlar and his storytelling

Onat Kutlar is an important representative of the 50 generation of Turkish storytelling. His first story was published in Journal of Seçilmiş Hikayeler (Journal of Selected Stories) in 1955. Besides his storytelling, he wrote up different types of narratives such as poem,essay,script and he translated many works until his death. Onat Kutlar,who was known with his poems and stories published in several journals, gained a unique place in literature world with his first story book İshak(1959) and won the Turkish Language Society Story Award in 1960. Onat Kutlar used similar themes as storytellers of the generation 50 in his stories. He used a specific tone in structure,language and expression. Our object in this study is searching Onat Kutlar about whom any study isn't carried on and his storytelling,and also revealing his scientific value in the sense of artistic integrity. In accordance with this purpose, in this study, Onat Kutlar's stories are analysed from various aspects. Onat Kutlar has two story books:İshak and Karameke. Scope of the study consists 14 stories in his two works. In introductory chapter of the study,storytelling of Turkish literature and Onat Kutlar's place and importance in Turkish literature with historical process of story are touched upon. In section one, life of the author who is subject to the study are mentioned. In section two, his sense of art and works are told extensively. In section three of the study,Onat Kutlar's storytelling is studied and the qualities that makes him genuine in literature are revealed. In section four of the study,the stories that are subject to the study are analyzed in terms of themes. In section five,structural elements of stories, and in section six ,language and expression in stories are analyzed. In conclusion, the findings revealed of the study include.
