Abstract (EN)
Commitment feelings of employees in organizations are important in terms of employee performances and in parallel organizational efficiency. The perception of organizational democracy is important in raising employee commitment. Attitudes and behaviors of employees in democratic organization structures will be positive. It is important to adopt democratic approaches in organizations and to ensure the participation of employees in organizational decisions. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of organizational democracy on employee commitment. This study was planned as a descriptive study to determine the effect of organizational democracy on employees' commitment. In the research, first of all, the definitions of organizational democracy and feelings of organizational commitment are included within the scope of literature review. In the last part of the study, the effects of organizational democracy on employee commitment were examined within the scope of the survey. The population of the study was identified as working in the communication sector in Istanbul. Within the scope of the research, it has been determined that reaching at least 384 employees by using Yazıcıoğlu and Erdoğan (2004) studies is sufficient at 95% confidence level. In this direction, 397 people were surveyed within the scope of sampling method and the findings were evaluated. The questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The questionnaire consists of questions related to demographic characteristics, organizational commitment scale and organizational democracy scale. In the research, data analysis was performed by SPSS 22 package program. According to the results of the research, when the effect of organizational democracy on normative commitment is examined within the scope of the regression model, it is found that the perceptions of justice, equality and accountability do not affect normative commitment. However, it has been found that perception of criticism and transparency is an effective variable on normative commitment. While the perception of criticism affects normative commitment negatively, the perception of transparency affects the perception of emotional commitment positively. However, when the regression coefficient is examined, it is seen that the sub-dimensions of organizational democracy explain normative commitment by 28.4%.
