Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the health and safety measures taken during forest harvesting activities are examined and evaluated. The thesis study was conducted with data obtained from Denizli and Bolu Regional Directorate of Forestry. The questionnaire was answered face-to-face with the employees of General Directorate of Forestry, forestry companies executives, logging workers and operators with a multiple-choice questionnaire. It was tried to find answers about the perception and expectations of the target audience by questioning and observing the measures taken, occupational safety and health trainings, the use of Personal Protective Equipment and the occupational safety awareness. 1.6% of the surveyed workers have never heard about occupational health and safety, 70.1% of the respondents have received occupational safety trainings but do not fully take measures. It is determined that the companies in the forestry sector who are in contact with the workers are cautious about the occupational safety issue, because this will bring economical burdens and are unsure that the companies working with the occupational safety company purchased the service in a healthy way. The staff in the forest administrations are in favor of implementing sanctions to the workers for occupational health and safety in favor of the workers and creating compulsory conditions rather than voluntariness. According to this; it can be suggested that education and rehabilitation should continue in order to create a voluntary bussiness culture in compliance with the occupational health and safety rules.
