An investigation of adolscent in none-rule behavior life satisfaction and parenting attitudes among adolescents?

The purpose of this study is to deterimine the parental attitudes? and life sataisfaction predicted in case of showing delinquent behaviours frequently or not. Also the aim of this stuy is to explore delinquency of adolescents? who studies in middle school in terms of gender, life satisfaction (low, medium, high) and parental attitudes (democratic, auothoritarian, permissive and neglectful).The data of this resarch was collected from 471 girls and 410 boys a total of 881 high school students who were studying in 9., 10., 11. and 12. grades from 12 high schools from Adana central province. The age of the students taken to the sample were between 14 and 19 (M=16.3, Ss= .49). The data were collected about students delinquency by means of ?Delinqueny Scale? (Kaner, 1996), data about family attitudes measured by ? Parenting Scales? (Lamborn, Mounts, Steinberg and Dornbush, 1991), data about life satisfaction by using ?Multidimensional Student? Life Satisfaction Scale? (Huebner, 1994) and personal data with the ?Personal Information Form? that was prepared by researcher. The data are analyzed using nonparametric statistical methods Mann Whitney-U, Kruskal Wallis and Logistic Regression.Results of the research shows that the most common delinguent behaviour of adolescents are ? whispering in oral or written examinations?, ?cheating in exams?,?driving a car or other vehicles without license? and ? lose his/her temper and beat someone?. In the study it is observed whether there is was a significant difference between gender and delinguency point of adolescents. Based on the results of analysis it is found that the delinguency score of boys were meaningfully higher than the delinguency points of girls.In the study it was found that there were meaningful differences between parenting styles and delinguency score of adolescents. The results of Mann Whitney U test analysis indicated that the adolescents whose parents are neglectful, permissive and, authoriterian tend to have more delinquent behaviours than the ones whose parents are democratic.In the study it is observed whether there is a meaningful difference between life satisfaction and delinguency point of adolescents. Based on the results, adolescents who have low or medium life satisfactions perceived from school, friends, neighborhood, individualisms and generally tend to have more delinquent behaviours compared to the adolescents with high life satisfaction. At the same time the results of Logistic Regression Analysis shown that the variables of ?strictness/supervision? perceived from family and satisfaction perceived from ?school?, ?family? and ?individuality? were having meaningful contributions for indicating frequent delinguent behaviours.Keywords: Adolescence, Delinguent Behavior, Parenting Styles, Life Satisfaction.
