An activity research intended for creating awaraness in secondary school pubils against envirinmental issues

Environmental education given to individuals comes first among the responsibilities to prevent environmental problems. In educational processes, it becomes important to develop positive attitudes of students towards the environment and to increase their awareness level. Because there is a direct relationship between environmental problems and environmental education. Environmental education includes elements such as informing, raising awareness, adaptation, development and protection and aims to create behaviors in humans in this direction. This study was carried out in order to create a positive change in the environmental perspectives of secondary school students. The research was carried out as the implementation of an action plan prepared by determining the current situation, and as the study group of the research, 18 female and 12 male students, who were 7th grade students in the 12-13 age range, in a public secondary school in the Toroslar district of Mersin province in the 2021-2022 academic year. Practices were carried out in order to increase the awareness of the participants about environmental problems. In this study, action research, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. As a data collection tool, a questionnaire form and diary forms prepared by the researcher in accordance with the sub-problems of the research were used, and the analysis of the data obtained from the forms used was made with descriptive analysis, which is one of the data analysis methods used in action research.
