Abstract (EN)

With the increase in research on fathers in our country in recent years, we see how important father participation is in child development. We observe that the increase in the number of working mothers, the developments in the education level of fathers, the fact that fathers take more roles in child care and the time they spend with their children increases. This study was conducted with fathers who have children between 36-72 months of age in order to examine the relationship between play behavior and father involvement in children with a developmental age of 36-72 months, and the relationship between some demographic information of fathers. The sample of the study consists of 131 fathers living in Istanbul. Relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The data of the children included in the research sample were obtained with the "Play Behaviors Evaluation Scale (Kuşçu, 2014)" in order to evaluate the play behavior of children. Information about the fathers was obtained with the Father Participation Scale and the demographic information form prepared by the researcher. According to the results obtained from the research data, it has been concluded that the participation of the father is effective in the play behaviors of the children who develop between 36-72 months. It has been concluded that manipulative play behaviors decrease with the increase of pleasure and interest and closeness from the participation of the father in the children who develop between 36-72 months. It was concluded that in parallel with the education level of the father in children aged 36-72 months, the father's participation in the basic care level increased. It was concluded that in parallel with the age of the father, the level of basic care of father involvement increased in children who developed between 36-72 months. It was concluded that in parallel with the frequency of playing games with the father's own father in children who developed between 36-72 months, the father's participation decreased in parallel with the basic care level. It can be suggested that fathers should take more roles in basic care in the development of children and that children should take more roles in arbitrary preoccupation and interest and intimacy by emphasizing the importance of father's participation in manipulative games.
